FoxConn Employee Lost New iphone Prototype: committed suicide!

This news should be mind-boggling to you. Based on an article posted on the following Spanish blog, http://www.celulaweb.net/, the new iphone may have its first victim already. A FoxConn employee, the company contracted to build hardware products for giants like Apple, committed suicide after losing a prototype of the new iPhone G4 . The post says the employee was interrogated and physically abused by company officials. According to sources, the dude was only 25 years old! What a shame!

We don't know if the news is reliable or not, but it sounds suspicious. We checked FoxConn's website to check to see if they have publicly posted anything, but they have nothing at all as of this moment. Not one single press release or anything to refute the story. You can check out FoxConn's website here, http://www.foxconn.com/CompanyIntro.html. We are checking other online sources, like independent bloggers, and they are putting it out there as well.
So for all you iphone fans out there, it may appear the new iphone already has blood all over it.... Oh well! what's new with corporate greed?? Next...

Shakira - She Wolf / La Loba [English and Spanish - Ingles y Español] (JULYONCÉ)

Ok Shakira Fans -

Although she just released the English version, it seems there is a mix of reviews tilting either way on the Web about her new album; positive and negative.

Is she selling out too much this time around, too commercial? Do you not find substance in her lyrics? Do you get the Album's theme? Although we haven’t seen the rest of the songs yet, it might be a little bit too early to tell whether this new album is going to be waterproof. Many miss her original style from the first Spanish albums, do you??

Please give us your opinion and we’ll try to do our best to relay your feedback to Shakira.

The contribution of immigrant-owned businesses to the total U.S. economy is not well understood by the public. Sadly, many people view immigration as a rising problem, but in reality the facts show us that immigrants have overcome this stereotype by successfully contributing to the United States’ Economy. According to Census 2000, immigrants constitute 12.5 percent of the total population of U.S. business owners. Immigrant-Owned Businesses represent 11.6 percent of all U.S. business income with the majority of immigrants descending from Mexico. The total income generated by immigrants is about $67 million dollars and will continue to rise in the future.

Immigrants are about 30 percent more likely to start a new business than non-immigrants. Immigrants are responsible for $67 million out of the $577 billion dollars the United States brings in annually..

About 34.2 percent of immigrants open new businesses monthly in California making the state the largest Immigrant-Owned Businesses contributor in the country. Contributing roughly $20 million of the $67 million dollars that immigrant-owned businesses rack up each year puts California at the top financially.
About 35,000 new businesses are open by latino immigrants every month.

The United States has a large and dominant group of Mexican Immigrants contributing to the U.S. Economy. Mexican immigrants are responsible for about 4.8 percent of business-owners.

Hispanic Businesses has grown to become a major success in the United States. The United States desires more Hispanic business owners to continue their success and encourage other immigrants to open their own businesses. We have constructed some good reasons selling to Hispanic businesses can be successful. On average, Hispanics have an estimated buying power of $452 billion. Half of the disposable income of Latinos is being spent at independent Latino businesses. This allows the businesses to circulate money and continue to thrive as a company. Immigrants represent 12.5 of all business owners and Hispanic businesses are 8 percent of all businesses currently in the United States. In 2002, Hispanics owned 1.6 million of all U.S. businesses.

Immigrant business owners make noticeable contributions to the U.S. economy in several different industries. Immigrants also contribute to wholesale trade and retail trade in America as well. Immigrants contribute 15.9 percent to wholesale trade and 15.5 percent in retail trade which is a significantly large percent and is increasing yearly. Retail and wholesale trade accounted for 35.9 percent of Hispanic-owned business revenue. There are about 29,168 Hispanic-owned businesses that obtain receipts of one million dollars or more.

Whitehouse: Sotomayor's Historic Nomination Gives Me Goosebumps

PIEL DE GALLINA! We taught them that! He learns quickly.... hahaha!

White House Press Release on Sotomayor

We thought we shared the following PR sent out yesterday by the WH. Check it out...

Good Morning,

Yesterday, Judge Sonia Sotomayor made her opening statement to the Senate Judiciary Committee and moved another step closer to taking a seat on the United States Supreme Court.

As President, there are few responsibilities more serious or consequential than the naming of a Supreme Court Justice, so I want to take this opportunity to tell you about the qualifications and character that informed my decision to nominate Judge Sotomayor.

Judge Sotomayor's brilliant legal mind is complemented by the practical lessons that can only be learned by applying the law to real world situations.

In the coming days, the hearings will cover an incredible body of work from a judge who has more experience on the federal bench than any incoming Supreme Court Justice in the last 100 years. Judge Sotomayor's professional background spans our judicial system — from her time as a big-city prosecutor and a corporate litigator, to her work as a federal trial judge on the U.S. District Court, and an appellate judge on the Second Circuit Court of Appeals.

And then there is Judge Sotomayor's incredible personal story. She grew up in a housing project in the South Bronx — her parents coming to New York from Puerto Rico during the Second World War. At the age of nine, she lost her father, and her mother worked six days a week just to put food on the table. It takes a certain resilience and determination to rise up out of such circumstances, focus, work hard and achieve the American dream.

This character shined through in yesterday's opening statement: Watch the video.

In Judge Sotomayor, our nation will have a Justice who will never forget her humble beginnings, will always apply the rule of law, and will be a protector of the Constitution that made her American dream and the dreams of millions of others possible. As she said so clearly yesterday, Judge Sotomayor's decisions on the bench "have been made not to serve the interests of any one litigant, but always to serve the larger interest of impartial justice."

In anticipation of today's first round of questioning, I hope you'll share this email widely, because Judge Sotomayor's confirmation is something that affects every American. It's important for these hearings to be about Judge Sotomayor's own record and her capacity for the job — not any political back and forth that some in Washington may use to distract you. What members of the Judiciary Committee, and the American people, will see today is a sharp and fearless jurist who does not let powerful interests bully her into breaking from the rule of law.

Thank you,
Barack Obama

Watch the Sotomayor Hearings Live

Good Morning Latino/as-

Hope you starting a great day with your cafecito in hand to get you up and running. This week there is plenty of news to talk about; most important I would imagine and I think you would agree it is today’s hearing to confirm federal judge Sonia Sotomayor to the U.S. Supreme court. Yeap! No kidding… it's an important day not just for Latino/as but for All Americans. Who would have thought that a Latina of Puerto Rican origin from the Bronx would have one day achieved to be in the highest court of the land?? Astounding! Good for her; for our community; and America!

Federal Judge Sonia Sotomayor will have her hearing in front of the Senate's Judiciary committee this morning at 10 a.m. Most Washington insiders say she will get at least 70 votes. The only thing that Republicans have left to do is continue digging their own grave deeper by attempting to attack her. I’d love to see that…

You can watch it live by visiting the committee’s website,
