Jackson Mourners Turn to Internet for Support

Ramayya Krishnan: Appointed Dean of Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University!

The selection committee at my Alma mater decided to select Prof. Ramayya Krishnan as Dean of the Heinz College at Carnegie Mellon University. Nice!

It came down to two very well qualified professors; one of them was from the University of Michigan and Prof. Krishna, who had been teaching at the Heinz for a number of years in the Management Information Systems department. If you look at one of my previous posts from March, you'll be able to find both of the candidate's profiles.

If you'd like to learn more about Heinz College and its programs, check it out @:

Congrats to Dean Krishna!

PS. Felicidades!

Michael Jackson - Do You Remember The Time

The King of Pop is DEAD!

Wow! Michael Jackson just died a few hours ago. He was 50. Like you, I used watch his cool videos growing up. I loved them ALL, particularly, Thriller!

Freddy Adu vs Spain and Argentina

The world has definitely CHANGED! At least in soccer, check out this kid taking to school all the best soccer players in the world! Who would have thought this could be possible just ten years ago??

Once again, this goes to show the undeniable scientific fact that the natural state of things is always in constant CHANGE...

Debate on Healthcare

Here we go again. I think the majority of polls side with the preference that Health care reform is a MUST.

You know this debate reminds me about the hype toward my senior prom night. I remembered, we all wanted to attend our senior prom badly, especially if we could go with the most beautiful and popular person in school, but for obvious reasons we ALL couldn't. Though We ALL still wanted to be there. No one wanted to miss this event even if they ended up going with someone else other than their first date-ask(Just so you know, I ended up going with my first choice:D). I'm lucky. Anyway, the point is We wouldn't miss senior prom for anything in the world even if we didn't get our first choice!

Now on health care, we all agree we need it but the devil is in the details(Cost), however, like Chris frames it, it boils down to VALUES; it makes one think, whose values weigh more? In the end, history will be on the right side of our VALUES.

If you want to see the debate that went on this morning between pundits, which was cool, check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dSeBKgzM5WQ

President Obama on Health Care Reform at the AMA

Let's see if this administration is able to pull it off?? If they do, it will go down as a legendary policy that will define his administration in history. You could probably equal it to the creation of the Social Security system back in the 30s, if is done right.

Fact check: Last time healthcare reform was attempted in Congress, it was back in 1993 under another very popular Democratic president. However, it was defeated by the powerful special interests in Washington(HMOs).

Let's hope they are able to defeat them this time around.

Si se puede!

"United We Stand"by Federal Judge Sotomayor

If you are a policy-monk like me, and have time after work, I suggest checking out Judge Sotomayor's documents online submitted to the Senate Judiciary Committee for her confirmation process.

One particular speech, of the many Judge Sotomayor has delivered during her long career to audiences caught my attention; it is titled, "United We Stand". You can find it by scrolling down the page under section 12-D.

After reading it, I hope you are persuaded to see why we desperately need a judge on the Bench like Sotomayor for the 21st century. Check it out...

President Uribe Visit to the U.S.

According to the Factfinder of the U.S. Census Bureau, there are approximately 800k Colombian-Americans residing in the U.S. Majority of Colombian-Americans reside in three states, Florida(South Florida), Northern NJ, and Queens NYC. I'm sure though you can also find a Colombian in least and most remote area of the country, Montana?? lol! There also other pockets of Colombian-americans spread out throughout the country, e.g. northern RI.

President Uribe visited this Colombian-American Community in RI today, bringing his message of the current condition of Colombia's reality to Colombians living in this state. Further, in his agenda, he will be attending the U.S. Mayor Conference event, taking place in Providence, meeting with local business leaders, and public elected officials. If you'd like to listen to President Uribe's address to the community, click the link below.

Policy wise, we must remember, Colombia is a U.S. key ally on the war on drugs in the western hemisphere, and his administration continues to ferociously lobby Congress to ratify the free trade agreement(FTA).
