Shakira- She Wolf: A Humble Feedback

I’m no music critic but I’m just not feelin it this time around… I saw her Univision interview and I got the point: every woman has a wolf in her closet. I guess being a guy I don’ know much about what that means? Does it mean being carefree and horny?

Well, if is about being that, then I’m sure the majority of her male followers will understand that well enough and the theme of this song. These lyrics don’t connect at all, under today’s circumstances, they don’t inspire me in any way or form, no connection whatsoever to my life. You know unlike her old stuff, I miss that; you know the stuff she originally became famous for in the first place. I want to see that come back!

Of course, I understand she has to change ‘cause of the market cross-over to the American culture—which she has successfully done before with her previous English albums: Dirty Laundry and Oral Fixation vol. I & II. Still, I’m hoping that she will be back with work that reflects her original style and lyrics. If she ever does, this will make me rush to the store and buy the CD or downloaded from iTunes.

It seems to me that whether her marketing agents or creatives behind Shakira are desperate or want to target a new market segment. This video and song was not made for neither a bilingual acculturated market or Latinos. This is the stuff you see on mainstream media. Nothing innovating. It's a Madonnized Shakira in need of controversy which does sell.

Thanks for sharing. I think so too. I haven't seen sales figures yet, but I do know she was in the six spot in the Top 10 Latin songs in the U. S. last week. It's just not my type of song.
